The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) recently released its 2013 ranking of the top 100 degree-granting institutions of higher education. This is the second year for the CWUR rankings. CU-Boulder has placed 41 in world rank this year, up from 46 on last year’s list; the Boulder campus is also up to 28 (from 34) among U.S. institutions.
The rankings combine a measurement of quality of the learning environment as well as research achievement. Unlike other ranking standards, the CWUR aims for objectivity by not relying on surveys and university submissions to calculate its results. The seven indicators used by CWUR include: quality of faculty, top journal publications, highly influential research, citations, patents, student academic training and the professional future of alumni.
